New Books for Six Rural Libraries

The books were supplied via the Central Library System (CLS), because all books have to go through special library processing (registration, stamping, cataloguing etc.). In total, over 700 books - both textbooks and fiction - have been delivered to the libraries. The range of titles was much wider than when we started the project, and they were selected jointly with the libraries and the CLS.

This is how we organized it: first, we asked the CLS for a general list of books that libraries are recommended to stock. This was a very extensive list. After reviewing it we compiled a list of books that are most relevant today. Later on, when we were agreeing our list with the rural libraries, it turned out that we’d made a good choice that almost completely met their needs.

The books have already been dispatched to 11 out of the 16 settlements in Nizhnekamsk District. I very much hope we’ll be able to help the other five next year.

This project is very dear to me. Big, large-scale events usually take place in cites and hardly ever affect people living in small villages and settlements. But people only feel changes in their lives when something changes where they live…here and now )).
