Alina Kabaeva makes a gift to children

Alina Rhythmic Gymnastics Festival for Children was held in Moscow for the first time this Tuesday . It became a real gift for three thousand orphans on the eve of the Children’s Day.

The air was festive on the way to Luzhniki. Lots of buses had arrived from orphanages, and coveys of smartly-dressed children were walking swiftly towards the concert hall, hurrying not to be late.

The festival was spearheaded by the famous gymnast-turned-Duma member Alina Kabaeva. Roughly 200 gymnasts from Russia’s best junior clubs performed on Tuesday in Rossiya Concert Hall.

“I think all parents who will see this show on TV will rush to enrol their daughters in rhythmic gymnastics schools,” said coach Irina Viner.

Each gymnastic performance was combined with a pop singer’s act. Among those who came to support the show were pop groups Ivanushki and Premyer-Ministr, children’s ensemble Neposedy, the Eurovision-winning Tolmachevy sisters, singers Soso Pavliashvili, Irakly, Glukoza, Sergei Lazarev, Valeria, and others.

Finally, Alina Kabaeva walked onto the stage. The song she sang, The Very Best by Igor Krutoy, became the crowning touch of the show.
