The magnificent “Alina” sports festival was held on 20th May, on the eve of Child Protection Day, in the Rossiya concert hall in Luzhniki. This year the festival had a much wider geographical reach.

Young Journalists’ School workshops have been held in Moscow under the patronage of Alina Kabaeva’s charity foundation. One hundred people from various regions of Russia, as well as Ukraine and Kazakhstan, came together to learn from leading experts in the fields of journalism, sociology and Russian philology.

Grassroots sport is the basis of a healthy way of life. For children to be active and physically well-developed you have to get them out on to the skating rink and into sports clubs from an early age, teach them how to ski and ride a bike.  And the best way of doing this is by setting an example, believes Alina Kabaeva, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma’s Youth Affairs Committee and head of her own charity foundation.

The latest cycle of Young Journalists’ School workshops organized by Alina Kabaeva, Olympic champion, State Duma deputy and head of her own charitable foundation, has ended in St.Petersburg. During the lectures the students, including people who though young, have worked in journalism for some time, eagerly soaked up the experience of their more famous colleagues, such as cinema critic Daniil Dondurey, REN TV Editor-in-Chief Aleksey Abakumov, Professor Igor Miloslavskiy, TV commentator Gennadiy Orlov and other experts.

Olympic rhythmic gymnastics champion Alina Kabaeva is both a famous and an exuberant personality. A State Duma Deputy with her own show on a national TV channel. In short, she’s a star.

The government has often said that it’s within our capabilities to produce some champions from amongst today’s young starlets for Russia’s first Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014. But we need to start training our future champions now.
