Alina Kabaeva has presented certificates to graduates of the third Young Journalists’ School
The second YJS workshop, which was held in St.Petersburg from 27th to 29th October, involved young journalists from 50 regions of Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, together with well-known experts such as Nika Strizhak, Dmitriy Guberniev, Aleksey Abakumov, Yevgeniy Balanov, Igor Miloslavskiy and others.
The School was the brainchild of Alina Kabaeva, deputy of the State Duma and head of her own charity foundation, who also runs it. In her opening address in St.Petersburg she said that the Young Journalists’ School is a school of ethics that aims to expand horizons and destroy stereotypes. Alina said that the media shape our society and she urged the students to think about the consequences that their articles and features will have for the people around them.
The workshop gave the young journalists an opportunity not only to talk to experts about journalistic ethics and professional reputation, but also to tour Channel 5, one of Russia’s biggest TV channels, to see how the studios work and meet the editors and lead journalists. At the end of the course Alina Kabaeva presented certificates and School graduation badges to the young journalists.
