Should You Go Straight to Moscow?
If your friends say your child is exceptionally gifted in rhythmic gymnastics there’s no need to rush off to Moscow straight away. Go to the specialists and get them to take a look at the child – trainers from the Olympic Reserve schools, for example. They won’t necessarily advise you to go straight to Moscow. For a good start, it’s not at all necessary to remove your child from familiar surroundings and take her away somewhere. Many top gymnasts began their careers outside Moscow. The important thing is for the child to feel good. You need to listen to her and be ready for the fact that she might not adore something you’re really keen on. It’s often the case. So take care, and good luck!

RE: Should You Go Straight to Moscow?
I wish my parents had read this when I was 4-13 years old.
I've always loved rhythm gymnastic since I first practiced when I was 4 years old, but in my country (Portugal) there's no tradition or good trainers in this area. I trained in a few gyms but only as an amateur, then at 13 I got an knee injury and had to stop for a year.
Now it's too late, I'm 21,although I end up moving to Kiev and Moscow but to study politics (ang to get married lol) and not to do gymnastics.
Anyway, this website is VERY valuable, glad to know that someone who knows so much about this is spreading the word in such an accurate way. Congratulations!!! Not only because of your career but also because of the way you continue involved and helping other people.
Hope other kids will take advantage of this information to pursue their dreams smile:) As a political scientist, now, I hope to get my career on track and dedicate my free time to improve my amateur rhythm gymnastic and stretching.

Greetings,
Vera from Portugal
